Ross Segel ED Headshot

Ross Segel, Executive Director

Ross Segel, the executive director of Heartis Village North Shore Senior Living, joined our community with almost 20 years of diverse career experience in national sales and business. In 2020, he transitioned to the senior living profession, where he finally discovered his calling. In 2022, Ross earned his CBRF license, further enhancing his knowledge and expertise. He brings exceptional people management skills, boundless compassion and unbridled enthusiasm to Heartis Village North Shore.

Beyond his professional life, Ross cherishes spending time with his wife and two children.

Angie Mehring, Director of Sales & Marketing

Angie Mehring joined Heartis Village North Shore in 2020 with more than 25 years of experience in the hospitality and relocation industries. She spent a decade working in corporate sales for Marriott and also worked in her family’s moving business. “I love helping the families and residents I have the privilege of working with and the opportunities to continuously learn from seniors. They enrich my life every day!” she said.

In addition to helping residents live vibrant lives, Angie enjoys spending time with her family and friends, being outdoors, cooking, and reading.

Toni Alvarez, Resident Care Director

As the resident care director for Heartis North Shore, Toni Alvarez oversees the care and clinical needs of the community. Toni’s career as a nurse spans more than 20 years. She joined Heartis from the St. Ann Center for Intergenerational Care, where she was the director of Adult Services for nine years. Toni truly enjoys being a part of the Heartis North Shore team and making a positive impact in residents’ lives every day. “It is so rewarding to use my talents and leadership skills to improve the lives of seniors in our care,” she said.

In Toni’s free time, she enjoys spending time with her husband and three sons. She especially enjoys watching her sons’ wrestling matches and camping in Northern Wisconsin.

Bonnie Madden RCD headshot

Bonnie Madden, Resident Care Coordinator

Bonnie Madden has been on the Heartis Village North Shore team since 2021 serving in many capacities, such as medical technician and Generations program director. Bonnie now serves as Resident Care coordinator, where she supervises the clinical team and supports the Resident Care director in caring for the residents. Before joining Heartis, Bonnie worked for nearly 20 years for Kohl’s in the Credit Department, along with being in home health. “I love taking care of people; there is something special about working with the elderly that just feeds my soul,” she said.

In her free time, Bonnie loves to spend time with her family, especially her 14 grandchildren.

Barb George

Barb George, Director of Sales & Marketing

Barb George joined the Heartis North Shore team with 26 years of dedicated experience in sales and marketing in the health care field. After graduating from the University of Wisconsin–Milwaukee with a bachelor’s degree in health care administration, she led successful careers in the pharmaceutical/medical device, occupational health care, and senior living industries. Barb’s passion for senior living began in college while working as a caregiver at a skilled nursing community. She gained a profound understanding of the unique challenges and opportunities of working with the elderly. This experience allowed Barb to appreciate the wisdom of the older population, instilling in her a deep respect for their perspectives and giving her a profound understanding of the importance of compassionate care.

Barb loves working with seniors and their families and treasures time with her own 93-year-old mother. In her spare time, Barb volunteers for a local dog rescue and spends time with her family and new grandson.

Kennedy VLD

Kennedy Inhoff, Vibrant Life® Director

In her role as Vibrant Life® director, Kennedy Inhoff orchestrates the activities and programs for the community and enriches the lives of our residents. Kennedy was originally drawn to the senior living world after college as she did not have grandparents as she grew up, and being able to spread joy and fun to the aging population made her feel as though she finally had that presence in her life.

Kennedy loves anything creative, including fashion, makeup, crafts and especially art. In college, she majored in graphic design and minored in Korean. Her Korean minor led her to spend a year abroad in South Korea studying at the country’s most prestigious university, Seoul National University.

Daniel Luna, Culinary Service Director

Chef Daniel ensures that our residents enjoy healthy cuisine at every meal. Daniel joined Heartis in 2018 and was promoted to executive chef in 2021. He has studied extensively with fine chefs in Chicago, and he attributes his skill and love of French, Italian and Spanish cuisines to this training. Daniel’s hometown of Puebla, Mexico, is also represented in one of his favorite dishes to make, chicken mole. When Daniel is not in the kitchen at Heartis North Shore, he may be delighting our residents by playing our baby grand piano. He also plays piano at his church and enjoys time with his wife and two children.

Jerry Vartanian, Business Office Director

As Business Office director at Heartis North Shore, Jerry Vartanian is responsible for overseeing the general administration of the human resource and accounting control systems, as well as overall functions and procedures for the community. Jerry’s passion for senior care was first ignited through his close bond with his grandmother, and he has since gained experience working with memory care residents as an activity coordinator. Jerry has a deep commitment to enriching the lives of seniors and cherishes every connection he forms with residents.

Outside of the office, Jerry enjoys playing his guitar, spending quality time with friends and family, or simply unwinding at home with his cat, Tom.

Joe Cannizzo, Building Service Director

Joe has served senior living communities with his wide range of trade skills for over three years. He is passionate about completing work for the residents because of the smiles he receives from them in return. When not working in our community, Joe enjoys spending time with family and working on his own cars. He also loves being outdoors, hunting and relaxing by a nice fire on his deck.

Steve Smokovich

Steve Smokovich, Wellness Director and Resident Nurse Delegator

Steve Smokovich, our wellness director and resident nurse delegator, has over a decade of experience in the senior living industry. Before joining our team, he worked as a psychiatric nurse in the emergency room for nearly a decade. He is a proud recipient of the “Nurse of the Year” award by the Milwaukee Journal Sentinel.

“The thing I love most about senior living is hearing the residents’ stories and developing good relationships with them.”

In Steve’s free time, he enjoys coaching his kids in sports and playing softball with his friends. He has been married for 13 years and together they enjoy traveling.
