Gary Novominsky, Executive Chef

Gary is excited to bring his wealth of culinary expertise to Heartis Clear Lake, and we are proud to have him as our Executive Chef. After graduating from Texas State University as well as culinary school, the Houston native gathered a wide range of experience in many areas of the food industry.

After becoming the youngest and quickest-rising manager in Luby’s Cafeterias’ history, Gary took the lead of food operations at the Johnson Space Center. Here, he was honored to feed the many employees and contractors of the space program, as well as foreign dignitaries, members of Congress, and even President George W. Bush.

Gary then honed his skills running nursing home kitchens, becoming adept at balancing nutrition and dietary restrictions with creating varied and tasty food choices to continually please residents. After opening and running his own restaurant in Galveston, Hurricane Ike upended Gary’s life, as it did for so many in the region. He worked a variety of jobs before again making a success of another Galveston restaurant. Gary is now thrilled to take all he’s learned in a consistent and very rewarding role. His focus is to make everyone’s day a little brighter and more flavorful here at Heartis Clear Lake.
